Ndaba Mandela, to present an honorary award at the 1st annual African Leaders 4 Change Awards in Sandton

BriefingWire.com, 8/19/2017 - 21 November 2017, at the Sandton Convention Centre, the 1st annual African Leaders 4 Change Awards (ALCA) will recognise and honour people who have dedicated their lives to building a better Africa without any financial reward.

“I think it’s important that we recognise the ordinary men and women who have dedicated themselves to addressing the challenges in our community and greater society,” says Ndaba Mandela, who will be a guest speaker and present the honorary award at the prestigious event.

The awards, will bring together Africa’s top entrepreneurs, business leaders and innovators; among them billionaire and Forbes Africa person of the year, Mohamed Dewji and Mozambican first son Florindo Philip. All the glitz, glamour and overall event will be broadcast on over 15 channels across the African Continent and 16 humanitarian game changers will walk away with awards in hand.

“There is a lot of good work being done by Africans for Africa and our hope is not only to celebrate those who are giving back but to also encourage the spirit of Ubuntu in others. We need to push to be innovative in our entrepreneurship and more so in solving African problems,” says ALCA Co-Founder, Shaleen Manhire Nullens.

On the night, ALCA will hand out the Grassroots Humanitarian Award, People’s Award, Youth Development Programme Award, Scholarships & Financial Aid Programme Award, Environment & Wildlife Protection & Conservation Award, Rural Development Award, Rebuilding Of Schools Award, African Leaders Overall Philanthropy Award, HIV/AIDS Awareness And Support Award, Entrepreneurship Training & Development Award, Healthcare & Disability Assistance and Funding Award, Most Effective Social Campaign for Change Award, African Leaders Fighting Deadly Diseases Award, Leaders in Feeding Africa, and three Honorary Awards.

“I am pleased to be part of the African Leaders 4 Change Awards because I believe that young people should not socially construct heroes but find leaders within themselves. I am equally glad that the organizers have chosen to host this in South Africa,” says Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Buti Manamela.

About African Leaders 4 Change Awards

The Africa Leaders 4 Change Awards are annual awards programme held to identify, recognise and reward those organisations doing exceptional work in all areas of philanthropy activities.

The Awards use media’s portfolio of magazines, reports, events and websites to celebrate and highlight best practice across the sector. The Awards are judged by a respected panel of voluntary sector heavyweights, each of them leaders in their own fields with years of experience of leading and managing society organizations. The judges assess each entry against ten Hallmarks of Excellence – ten traits or attributes that should be present in any successful project. Some applicants will score better against some Hallmarks than others, but the charities that win awards will be those charities that score highly against most, if not all, these Hallmarks.
