UK - Following revelations on the BBC WatchDog Live television programme that BMW Cars are “cutting out” or the engine stops working WHILST DRIVING, BMW has announced they are recalling over 300,000 cars in the UK.

Is my BMW effected by the Recall?

The problem has been publically announced that the recall will cover specific models; BMW 1 Series, the 3 Series, the Z4 and its X1 petrol and diesel models made between March 2007 and August 2011. Owners of these vehicles should telephone the BMW Recall Helpline on 0843 133 7130

As this is an important safety matter, and possibly life-threatening, and you are unsure if your BMW needs to be recalled, or you may have concerns that your car is cutting out and is not a model currently publically known to have faults, then please telephone 0843 133 7130.

Normally, you can check with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), however, due to the speed in which this recall came into the public eye, BMW has stated: “We anticipate that the recall will not be immediately visible via this service”. BMW drivers, for the purposes of the recent announcement on the recall of the B+ cable, are advised to contact BMW directly. 0843 133 7130

The DVSA will only record safety recall actions for vehicles first registered in the UK and Ireland and will not provide information on vehicles first registered in any other country.

This recall is an extension of a previous recall which took place in April 2017, when BMW recalled over 36,000 petrol models. This time, the recall covers a wider range of models and those manufactured over a longer period of time. It will include cars in the UK and Ireland.
