Executive Chef Gregory Wiener of Top of the Rock Announces “Chefs Collection” Collaboration
Tempe Restaurant Assembles Top Valley Chefs for Specialty Supper Series This Summer

BriefingWire.com, 6/17/2013 - Executive Chef Gregory Wiener, the driving force behind the revitalization of one of the Valley’s top restaurants in Tempe, Top of the Rock, announced the launch of a summer supper collaboration series running each Thursday evening from July 11th through August 29th, 2013. The program features a different chef from neighboring Valley restaurants, hotels and resorts hosting an evening as guest chef at the Top of the Rock restaurant; preparing a three-course, prix-fixe meal for guests at an affordable price.

A roster that reads like the “Who’s Who” of the Phoenix culinary scene will grace the stages of Top of the Rock’s approachable, open kitchen and prepare a special menu available only the night of the local celebrity chef’s appearance. Affordable, interesting and unique cuisines are the parameters for the program, and each guest can partake of the special menu for just $35.00 with optional beer and wine pairings available.

“My idea for Chef’s Collection was to engage the community and offer something a little out of the ordinary,” states The Buttes Marriott Executive Chef Gregory Wiener. “We have a wealth of local culinary talent here in the Phoenix metro region, and I thought it would be fun for everyone – both guests and chefs alike – to get out of their comfort zone and mix things up for one night. It’s an opportunity to follow your favorite chef to a new location, experience something new and have fun in the process.”

The top-tier roster of local culinarians includes Chef Kelly Fletcher of Tempe’s famed House of Tricks, Chef Stephen Jones of Phoenix’s Blue Hound Kitchen and Cocktails, Scottsdale’s Chef James Porter of Petite Maison and Elements Chef Beau MacMillan, as well as four others. The full list of Phoenix celebrity chefs and schedule can be found online at: http://www.topoftherockbuttes.com/#!chefs-collection/cb3i

The Chef’s Collection series is the latest in a string of efforts by Chef Wiener to put a focus on local and emphasize the outstanding offerings available in Arizona’s Valley of the Sun. Since taking the reins at Top of the Rock a little over two years ago, Wiener has instituted a return to local vendors, growers and producers, forged relationships that bring farm-to-table freshness to guests, revitalized and revamped the menu with seasonal changes and locally-sourced products, and brought an awareness of locally produced beers and wines to the Top of the Rock’s guests.

Located on the property of the Phoenix Marriott Tempe at the Buttes resort, Top of the Rock restaurant originally opened in 1986 and is known for its advantageous views of the Valley of the Sun and incomparable sunset dining experiences. Situated at the precipice of a 25-million year old butte, resort guests and locals alike laud the location as a staple for milestone events, celebrations, corporate conferences, weddings, receptions and more. In February of this year, the Top of the Rock restaurant in Tempe was included on a list of the top 25 “Most Romantic Cities to Dine In” by Huffington Post, based on a survey conducted by online reservation technology provider OpenTable. In May 2013 the Tempe restaurant received the esteemed TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor.
