Gift Card Shopping increases more than 20% in 2017!
Gift Card Central's National Retail Spending Survey found that those planning to buy gift cards will spend over 20% more on average than last year ($173.08 vs. $200.74 this year), making this the largest rise in spending in the past 10 years.

BriefingWire.com, 9/20/2017 - In the first holiday survey released by https://.giftcardcentral.com on September 10th shows that 86.7 percent of shoppers said that they would like to receive gift cards, making them the most requested gift item eleven years in a row. "Retailers' initial advancements and selective offerings have made it simpler for buyers to discover all that they require without considering striking the gift voucher rack," said Gift Card Central's National Account Director Cindy Shulman. According to the survey, shoppers plan to spend an average of $65.33 per card. Again this year, men plan to spend more than women on gift cards ($174.11 vs. $155.26 respectively). Of those who plan to buy at least one card, more than half (60.7%) understand the practicality of the cards and said they will buy gift cards because they allow the recipients to select their own gift. Nearly one-quarter of shoppers (23.9%) plan to buy online gift cards because they know they are easier and faster to buy than traditional gifts and 7.6 percent said gift cards are easier to mail and ship to out-of-town family and friends. View more on https://giftcardcentral.com . With a plenitude of purchase options, online websites, retail establishments, restaurants  are the top choices for the majority of holiday shoppers in 2017. As per the study, 37.8 percent of customers will treat their friends and family to dinner with gift cards, and 32.4 percent will get a gift card for a retail establishment. One of every five (20.1%) will pick a gift voucher for a restaurant, 18.2 percent will choose a gift card for clothing stores and 17.8 percent will pick some sort of entertainment gift card.

 About the Survey

The National Retail Spending Survey was designed to gauge consumer behavior and shopping trends related to up coming winter holiday season. The survey polled 41,942 consumers and was conducted for Gift Card Central by Premier Retail Solutions, July 1st-September 1st 2017. The consumer poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points.
