Grass Valley, CA, March 3, 2017– Since 1979, the annual Telly Awards have honored the outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, web commercials, videos and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. This year, one of the 12,000 submissions came from local producer, Lou Douros, for his company’s development of promotional films for the folsomcasharttrail.com website. “I’m honored to receive the Bronze Telly Award for the promotional video for the Johnny Cash Trail Art Experience. The trail around Folsom Prison will one day feature amazing sculptures memorializing Johnny Cash,” said Lou Douros. “It was a pleasure working with the City of Folsom and both Romo Studios of Sacramento and Rotblatt-Amrany Fine Art Studios based in Chicago.”
Douros’ production company, North Yuke, produces independent films and work-for-hire projects for clients such as Intel, PG&E, Amgen Tour of California, World Vision International, Folsom Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau, and the City of Folsom. For this award-winning project, Lou worked from his Folsom studio along with associate producer and cinematographer, John Northrup of Asheville, NC.
The duo is known for their commitment to documentary-style storytelling; last year they co-produced a project about the persecution of Christians and minorities in South Sudan, Iraq, and the West Bank. In 2013 they focused on preventing humpback whale entanglements in Alaska and Hawaii for the short film, Northern Wake, a sequel to Douros’ Emmy nominated documentary, In the Wake of Giants. This is Douros’ most recent award since In the Wake of Giants won at the Blue Ocean Film Festival (Monterey), San Francisco Ocean Film Festival (San Francisco), Gray’s Reef Ocean Film Festival (Savannah, GA), and Pelagos (Rome).
“When John and I choose a project, we aren’t thinking about awards. Instead, we look for a powerful visual story, as well as a strong narrative. How can you go wrong with excellent sculptors like Adan Romo (Romo Studios) and Gary Tillery (Rottblat-Amrany) in the spectacular rural areas around the iconic Folsom Prison,” said Douros.
North Yuke is a collaborative production company formed by filmmaker, Lou Douros, to serve select clients and produce and distribute independent films. The company’s headquarters is in Grass Valley, CA with a studio in Folsom, CA.
