It’s good to keep your finger on the pulse if you are working within the industry as new things are announced every month. From new equipment announcements to pipelined designs for the future, we want to keep our customers clued up on what is coming out at the moment and in the future!

JCB has announced that they will be working to replace their Isuzu engines with more efficient engines from Rolls-Royce. The MUT series 1000 power units are based on a six-cylinder engine which will be fitted to the JS300, JS330 & JS370. Preliminary tests show that these new MUT engines will be saving up to 10% of fuel compared to the older engines.

This isn’t the first time the series 1000 engine has been used in a piece of JCB machinery. Whilst it’s never been used in a series of an excavator, The MUT is already used in the flagship wheel loader, the JCB 457.

The new JS370, the biggest excavator of the three is planned to be unveiled in a Conexpo in Las Vegas, showing those in the industry it’s new innovative design & features. JCB has always strived towards more efficient engines, refining their machines so that their products are always seen as the go-to standard.

Bernd Krüper (VP at MTU) is quoted saying “This is another step forward in our long and successful partnership. Use of our engines in JCB’s new excavators marks our entry into another very important and high-volume segment of the C&I market, and we are very proud that JCB is choosing to endorse our EU Stage IV-compliant units.”

This recent move by JCB is indicative of their nature to build & progress. It shows that the teams of designers & engineers at JCB are always looking to better their machines.
