NewSat to attend the upcoming AITEC East Africa ICT Summit 2012
Australia's leading satellite communications company will join the largest event for the ICT community in East Africa

BriefingWire.com, 10/15/2012 - Together with Asia, Africa has shown a surge in demand for satellite capacity. Satellite services are heavily sought after in the continent, in particular the Eastern region, to help meet growing technological and economic needs - from telecom infrastructure to national broadband projects.

In line with this, Kenya will be hosting the AITEC East Africa ICT Summit 2012, from October 24 - 25 at the Oshwal Centre in the capital, Nairobi. Kenya, together with the rest of East Africa has shown great potential with its upgrade ICT infrastructure and services. The region is now read to provide a wide array of IT-enabled services.

The theme of the summit “Smart cities > smart societies > smart enterprises” will focus on high-level business-to-business services which engages the consumers and fast track’s the regions economic development and emerging IT-based community. The event will also serve as a platform in discussing the increasingly crucial role satellite communications will play in Kenya and the rest of East Africa in terms of IT-enabled services.

NewSat Ltd will be attending the summit to discuss its Jabiru Satellite Program - a fleet of powerful Ka band satellite sets to provide coverage in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The Jabiru 1 satellite is already under construction and slated for a 2014 launch. Upon commercial operations, the bird will deliver a range of multi-spot, regional, and steerable beams.
