Tempe, AZ Restaurant Named Amongst Most Romantic Places to Dine in the Nation
Top of the Rock Residing Atop the Phoenix Marriott Tempe at the Buttes Resort Lauded by Huffington Post and OpenTable

BriefingWire.com, 2/18/2013 - Tempe, Ariz. (BriefingWire) February 18, 2013 — Renowned for their stellar views, world-class food, hand-crafted cocktails and locally-sourced food and beverage, Tempe Arizona’s Top of the Rock restaurant made the list of the top 25 “Most Romantic Cities to Dine In” photo exposé by leading media outlet Huffington Post. The piece was published the week of Valentine’s Day 2013, based on the results of a recent survey conducted by online reservation technology provider OpenTable. OpenTable compiles data from user’s feedback to create “Diners’ Choice” lists. The feedback is provided by diners who have used the OpenTable reservation system, after dining at a particular location, and OpenTable claims the lists are unique because the data is qualified, unbiased and fresh. The Top of the Rock restaurant was built in 1986 on the property now owned by the Phoenix Marriott Tempe at The Buttes resort complex. Uniquely perched atop an indigenous Sonoran Desert butte, or rock outcropping, the buttes upon which the property is located near downtown Tempe are part of an extinct volcano chain; the remains of which punctuate the desert landscape at odd intervals. At a height of thousands of feet above the main desert floor, the Top of the Rock fine dining restaurant boasts striking architectural elements such as a vaulted wooden conical ceiling, natural stone pediments and decorative accents, glass walls and windows and a hill-hugging patio providing incomparable views of the Phoenix metropolitan area below and around the location. Revered for its spectacular sunset vistas, Top of the Rock restaurant is open daily from 5-10pm and is open to the public, as well as guests staying at the adjacent Marriott resort.

“We are thrilled to be included among the other top 24 romantic dining destinations,” admits Top of the Rock’s General Manager Peter Juneja. “Locally we are known for our spectacular views and a staple for milestone events like anniversaries, weddings, celebrations and of course Valentine’s Day, however to be included in this national list is a true honor and accolade to celebrate.”

Every month the Top of the Rock restaurant offers a “charity dinner” benefiting a local non-profit. The menu and parings are developed by the Top of the Rock’s award-winning culinary staff headed by Chef Gregory Wiener, and $5 from every charity dinner sold throughout the month are donated to that month’s cause. Recent recipients have included local branches of Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity and St. Mary’s Food Bank.
