1. Test Your Brakes
Ensuring that your steering wheel, handbrake and brakes are working correctly for anything unusual. If they are not working correctly then this will have to be rectified before your car will pass its MOT.
2. Extensive Light Checks
Check if all of the lights on your car working correctly. This includes your fog lights, brake lights, indicator lights, hazards, headlights and rear lights. Check the lights are working correctly and that none of the bulbs have blown. If the lights have blown then replace them yourself before your MOT. Although not a light on the exterior of your car, check that the warning lights on your dashboard are also working correctly.
3. Check for Obstructions in the Driver’s View
The driver’s view should not be obstructed. Ensure that there is nothing blocking the view. Check wipers for stickers that may block your vision and the blades for damage. Do not worry if your wiper blades are damaged as these can be replaced yourself.
4. Carry Out Checks on Registration Plates
Your registration plates must be in good nick and readable. If you have a personalised number plate you also need to ensure that this meets the requirements set out by the DVLA.
5. Check the Horn is Loud and Clear
