Top of the Rock Restaurant in Tempe Earns 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence
Honored as a Top Performing Restaurant as Reviewed by Travelers on the World’s Largest Travel Site

(BriefingWire) May 31, 2013 – Top of the Rock restaurant in Tempe, Ariz. today announced that it has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Only the top-performing 10 percent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.

To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor, and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

Located on the property of the Phoenix Marriott Tempe at the Buttes resort, the revered restaurant opened in 1986 and has been a staple in the Tempe, Arizona and Phoenix metro communities since its inception. Under recent new management, the establishment is open to the public as well as resort guests for dinner and daily happy hour, and as an event venue for weddings, receptions, private parties and corporate functions.

Since coming on board last year, Executive Chef Gregory Wiener has implemented a number of community-based initiatives, popular with guests, including farm-to-table approaches of sourcing local food and beverage offerings, incorporating regional flavors and culinary traditions into classic cuisines like the Arizona Poutine made with Phoenix-based Schreiner’s chorizo, duck sopes and cholla buds and Anasazi beans served with the restaurant’s signature steak.

Wiener also spearheads a monthly charity dinner; a three-course prix-fixe menu with a portion of the proceeds going directly to a selected local charity each month. General Manager Peter Juneja and Resort Mixologist Darin Miller offer monthly wine and hand-crafted cocktail classes featuring local wines, herbs and spirits. Plans are underway to launch a community culinary program this summer featuring event-based dinners prepared by local guest chefs and vendors, adding to the allure of the resort restaurant’s offerings.
