200 Year Old Nursery Rhyme Tops the Poll
46 countries take part in a poll to find the top 5 favourite nursery rhymes

BriefingWire.com, 11/24/2016 - World Nursery Rhyme Week, an annual initiative organised by Music Bugs, celebrates the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood development and education. This year they invited Early Years settings and parents to vote for their favourite nursery rhyme and ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ topped the poll.

Claire Bennett, founder of Music Bugs and World Nursery Rhyme Week said “We received 9,765 registrations from 46 countries this year with over 600,000 children under 7 years of age taking part. We were not totally surprised that 'Twinkle Twinkle' topped the poll although we were amazed that it accounted for nearly 50% of the vote”. The top 5 rhymes were: ‘Twinkle Twinkle’, ‘Incy Wincy Spider’, ‘Miss Polly Had a Dolly’, ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’. World Nursery Rhyme Week will take place from 13th - 17th November in 2017.
