CHICAGO, IL- September 2, 2010- Drawing on her expertise in cultural anthropology, Dr. Tramayne Butler, has launched a 100% natural spa skin care and body care line that combines beauty secrets from around the world. The new, luxury line, called AnthroSa Logic® (www.anthrospa.com), uses a combination of exotic, organic ingredients used for centuries by native peoples both medicinally and in beauty treatments to care for their skin.Founder and CEO Dr. Butler, felt that a spa quality skin care line could benefit from the global, holistic perspective of anthropology. “Indigenous cultures have long used organic substances to care for their skin,” she noted. “We live in a globalized world and I wanted to create a 100% natural line that draws on this traditional knowledge while reflecting a cross-cultural perspective.” The line combines skin care traditions from Europe, the Americans, Asia and Africa. For instance, the beauty secrets of the Japanese Geisha are intertwined with those of other groups like African and Native American tribes.
The upscale line is completely chemical-free, preservative free, and filler-free. It responds to a growing consumer demand for natural and organic, personal care products. Because they lack preservatives, the unique products are packaged dry, similar to dried foods and transform into a creamy consistence when consumers add water in the tub or shower. Designed to save consumers time and money, the multitasking products contain pure, antioxidant-rich ingredients that are all 100% active. They contain no drying soap or clay and have an anti-aging effect that serves as a natural alternative to chemical injections and treatments. The scrubs for face and body include a unique botanical long used by Native Americans and in Europe during the middle ages as soap.
“I wanted to create a line that offered spa quality results but remained as pure and natural as the time-tested, traditional treatments used by native peoples.” Dr. Butler remarked.
Dr. Tramayne M. Butler developed AnthroSpa Logic in 2007 shortly after receiving her Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of Michigan. Inspired by her cultural research in Kenya and travels to London, Paris, Nice, Milan and Monaco, Dr Butler felt that a natural skin care line could benefit from a cross-cultural approach. While teaching part-time as an adjunct professor of anthropology, Dr. Butler started researching and developing her line while at home with her two young sons.
