San Francisco, California: Today at the Annual World Wide Developer’s Conference, Apple announced the release of its latest operating system iOS 10 which Apple claims is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system. The new operating system boasts huge update and improvements in Messages, New Home App, Music, News App, Pictures, All-New Redesigned Maps and Improved Siri. The new iOS looks really promising and impressive but one thing that has created the stir within the online gaming community is the logo design of the Apple’s New News App.The Apple’s News logo design bears a striking resemblance to the most popular game online DOTA 2. If you see both the logos look extremely similar to each other with the exception of color. Where the apple news logo is pink, the Dota 2 logo sports a darker shade of red color. The inspiration for both these logo designs, as explained by designers is poles apart, though. The apple news logo is a stylized N for News whereas the Dota 2 logo denotes the only map on which the game is played: the diagonal line in the middle represents the river splitting the Dire and the corner elements denote the bases each team has to defend.
This similarity was pointed out by Reddit User Petervandaentzen when he uploaded the Apple News and Dota 2 logo side by side. This story has since then been picked up by multiple news outlets, however, there have been no comments from either Apple or Valve (Owning Company of Dota 2). Online gaming community seems to be in the favor of Valve taking actions against Apple but no such action has been taken yet.
