BriefingWire.com, 7/26/2014 - REVOLVE 2014 is a 7-day cinematic and artistic celebration for LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual) and Ally Pride. The 2014 Festival will take place August 24th-August 30th in the vibrant, independent arts community of downtown Oakland, California and encompasses exhibition, gallery and theater venues throughout the city - including Oakland City Hall. Promotional Partners and sponsors include Community Cinema, The Queer Cultural Center, The Office of the Mayor of Oakland and Joyce Gordon's Art Gallery.

Oakland (dubbed “Brooklyn By The Bay” by the New York Times) has an internationally recognized history of nurturing world class artistry. With film, television and commercial media interests flocking to Oakland, it's befitting that we host a festival celebrating our uniquely diverse Oakland LGBTQIA artist culture and community.

It all begins on August 24th with the REVOLVE: 2014 Opening Celebration featuring:

• A workshop series with LGBTQIA filmmakers, producers and social justice artists exploring the festival theme: “I AM AN ARTIVIST: Social Activism through Art”

• The West Coast Premiere of Grammy Nominee SAMPSON McCORMICK’s documentary film with Sampson McCormick as our host

• A photo exhibit celebrating over 5 decades of Bay Area LGBTQIA Activism

• A reception with rotating DJs and dance

• A music and spoken word concert featuring film shorts and performances with award winning artists including:

Artists are encouraged to submit your artist form (2-3 mins to fill out) by July 31st.
