BriefingWire.com, 6/25/2014 - Summer will soon be here, and horse owners are gearing up for another busy season. After we surveyed 500 people about what their weird horse plans for this summer, here are the results.

40% says trail riding

20% says horse shows

15% says raising and training a foal

7% says work on farm projects

12% says attend horse clinics

6% says visit "Crazy Horse Monument" in South Dakota

Did I read it wrong? Crazy Horse Monument!!! This project started in 1948, but it was never completed. If you go to Wikipedia.com and search for crazy horse monument, you will understand what this project all about.

It was Korczak's vision, but he was dead 32 years ago. His poor wife Ruth was continuing his vision until she died recently on May 21, 2014 at age 86.

If you have time, you are welcome to arrive at Crazy Horse Memorial tomorrow Thursday night June 26, 2014 "Celebration of Ruth Ziolkowski's Life and the Anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn".

The Indian dance performance will be held at 5:30 pm tomorrow evening on the deck to honor the wife of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski. Ruth will be honored by the music of a "bagpiper" from Virginia who Ruth always wanted to hear at the memorial as he plays happy birthday and another musical selection. There will be a special program honoring Ruth, which will be followed by the Crazy Horse Laser Light Program. The finale will be the spectacular night blast. This night blast will commemorate the 138th anniversary of the Battle of the Little Big Horn. The battle was June 25th, 1876. Crazy Horse was a main strategist in the defeat of Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer and his troops.

There will be two night blasts at Crazy Horse Memorial each summer and fall are traditionally the most popular events of the year. The spectacular blasts light up the mountain with incredible fireballs and pyrotechnical features specially designed by the mountain crew.

Another night blast will be held on September 6th to celebrate the dual anniversaries of the 1877 death of Crazy Horse and the 1908 birth of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski.
