Even though cost of living is higher in NYC, people tend to walk more and have less space for material objects. Moms in California drive fancy SUV's, fight to get into the right preschool followed by private school at a premium of up to $25,000 a year.
One mom said " especially west side moms, they want to keep up. Pediatricians that don't take insurance and you pay a premium to be a part of the practice, Goyard diaper bags and the Cadillac of strollers."
