CD West: The Green Choice
CD replication and duplication service provider is making the conscious effort to become a “green” company with its eco-friendly efforts in raw materials as well as the process involved in production and printing services.

BriefingWire.com, 3/05/2014 - A Canada-based CD duplication and printing services has invested heavily in eco-friendly initiatives as part of the company’s core philosophy to do its part for the environment.

Since its beginnings, CDwest.ca has exerted all efforts to only use low-plastic or no-plastic, recyclable and bio-degradable raw materials when it comes to CD duplication and printing services in Western Canada.

“Simply put, we are the greener choice in the area of CD or DVD duplication and replication service,” a company spokesperson said.

For instance, the company only uses CD eco-sleeves which are the better alternative to traditional plastic cases. These no-plastic sleeves have become the viable, not to mention cost-effective, solution to protecting the CD or DVD from scratches and damage during handling.

Another innovation the company adopted is the CD Digipak, which works exactly similar to the traditional jewel case or library case for CD and DVD “but with only a fraction of the plastic,” the company website added.

“CDwest.ca only use FSC certified products,” the official added, referring to the Forest Stewardship Council, which is a global non-profit group that promote responsible utilization o the world’s forest, as well as setting standards for responsible environmental management program.

The company said that in the past 13 years, over 90 million hectares in more than 70 nations have already been certified in accordance with the standards set by FSC. The group operates through a network of third-party organizations that certify forest product producers and forest managers.

In terms of printing services, CDwest.ca only uses vegetable-based inks which are considered to be less harmful to the environment compared to the traditional petroleum-based products.

“The manufacturers of vegetable-based inks actually mix ingredients in order to get the desired quality or color and to maximize the characteristics of each oil,” the official said. “What matters is vegetable or soy-based inks are universally recognized as eco-friendly.”

An audio division brand of Precision Disc Manufacturing Corp., CDwest.ca started in the replication of mini-CD discs and business cards, becoming the pioneer in North America in using a one-step process that molds the discs to desired shapes and sizes.

Even today, precision disc injection-molded process is considered as a superior alternative to the traditional machine-cutting CDs to size

To this day, when compared to the more common method of machine-cutting CDs to size, Precision Disc's injection-molded product provides superior quality, durability, consistency and cost-effectiveness.
