Christopher Sahliyeh is a long time resident of the Dallas area, and attended both a preparatory elementary school and university in the area. “I’ve always lived around the Dallas area,” explains Christopher Sahliyeh, “so I wanted my higher education experience to be local.” Before university, Christopher Sahliyeh attended the St. Mark’s School of Texas for his elementary and high school education, and thoroughly enjoyed his time there. He explains, “The Dallas area has so many great schools, so I always knew that I wanted to stay in this area for university. Southern Methodist University had everything that I was looking for, so it was an obvious choice for me.”

At Southern Methodist University, Christopher Sahliyeh completed a double major program. He received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Finance, and graduated with honors in both programs. In addition to his impressive joint degree, Christopher Sahliyeh also completed a minor in Marketing.

Although he graduated over nine years ago, Christopher Sahliyeh’s experience at Southern Methodist University continues to influence him today. “SMU,” he explains, “more than prepared me for my professional career goals. My double major was particularly influential, and taught me the value of diligence and hard work.” Christopher Sahliyeh’s time at Southern Methodist University enabled him to learn about local business in his fields of interest, which gave him a significant advantage when it came to the post-graduation employment search. He found that attending a local university was beneficial to helping him learn about the business climate around Dallas, and feels that he wouldn’t have been as adequately prepared for employment opportunities in another city if he chose to attend a different college.

Christopher Sahliyeh knows that his decision to attend Southern Methodist University was the right choice for him, and encourages others to consider local colleges for reasons similar to his own factors.
