A bellwether vaginal mesh trial in the C.R. Bard federal case consolidation, originally scheduled to begin on Dec. 3, was recently postponed to Jan. 10, 2014, according to court documents. The Avaulta Mesh Lawsuits Information Center, which discusses the change, maintains a website with vaginal mesh lawsuit and side effects information. Plaintiff Carolyn Jones received the mesh implant to treat her pelvic organ prolapse, according to court documents (2:11-cv-0114; U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia). In her suit, she alleges she suffered serious adverse side effects from the device’s implantation such as pain and discomfort.
The Avaulta Mesh Lawsuits Information Center notes that rescheduling trial dates is not rare, especially during the holiday season.
Bard is one of five major vaginal mesh makers who are reportedly in talks to settle thousands of vaginal mesh lawsuits. AMS, Coloplast, Cook Medical and Boston Scientific are also said to be the companies involved, according to Bloomberg reports.
The Avaulta Mesh Lawsuits Information Center encourages those who believe their vaginal mesh implants have harmed them to visit the Center’s TVM page to learn more about vaginal mesh settlements and lawsuits, and to apply for a free case review.
