Dr Tariq Drabu Concerned Children in Ireland Not Seeing Dentist Before they Start School in 2016
Dr Tariq Drabu said “Dublin children are seeing the dentist for their first time too late, usually once they have already started school, which is a concern to the dental industry.”

BriefingWire.com, 11/09/2016 - Dr Tariq Drabu is a leading dentist and specialist oral surgeon based in Manchester in the United Kingdom. He is also one of the youngest dentists to ever graduate in the United Kingdom before working in some of the busiest dental hospitals in the UK and Saudi Arabia. He always showed a passion in oral surgery which resulted in him completing his Fellowship in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Today Dr Drabu is the owner of the successful Langley Dental Practice and is also the Clinical Lead Dentist for the Oral Surgery Clinical Assessment and Treatment Services at NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale.

Dr Tariq Drabu was speaking about an article published on 3 November 2016 on a top dental news website.

Dr Tariq Drabu said “Children in Dublin are attending their first dental visit too late. The average age screened under the national programme is eight years of age, which is way too late. The problem is that tooth decay and oral health issues are all preventable, if children get into a good oral health routine from an early age. Getting a child into a habit is something that they can carry with them into adulthood.”

Dr Tariq Drabu in Manchester went on to say “Many parents are under the impression that because their children have their milk or baby teeth, they do not need to worry about oral health. The truth is that children can get cavities in their milk teeth, which is being seen across the United Kingdom right now with millions being spent each year admitting children to hospital to have their teeth extracted.”

Dr Tariq Drabu closed in saying “In the United Kingdom we encourage parents to bring their children for their first dental appointment at the age of six months. The minute that first tooth pushes through the gums, a child is exposed to decay. Being preventative, but attending routine dental appointments, brushing twice daily and flossing, children will be able to protect and preserve their teeth moving forward.”
