Dr. Terry Simpson Oversees Patient’s Beer and Sausage Diet
Weight loss surgeon reports unexpected positive outcomes

BriefingWire.com, 1/18/2014 - Phoenix, AZ—Dr. Terry Simpson is an experienced weight loss surgeon who enjoys spending time with his patients. He’s the sort of doctor who likes to closely study a patient’s weight, cholesterol, and triglycerides while dieting to discover what does and doesn't work; to expose, understand, and explain the science behind it all; and to teach patients about sourcing, preparing, and cooking foods that yield the best results.

And, Dr. Simpson is open-minded when patients like Evo Terra come to him with a few ideas of their own—even if it’s out of the ordinary. The beer and sausage diet Evo Terra asked Dr. Simpson to supervise may sound outlandish and unlikely to work; yet, it produced positive results. For three consecutive years in October, Evo consumed only beer and sausage for the entire month while Dr. Simpson monitored Evo’s weight, blood test results, and other relevant biostatistics.

Dr. Simpson and Evo agreed to limit his calorie intake to 1,500 calories per day. Evo drank approximately 6 beers per day, restricted his solid food intake exclusively to sausages, and stayed within the 1,500 calories per day limit. Turns out not only did Evo lose weight, he lost more weight than predicted and, “Every year his blood chemistry got better,” said Dr. Simpson. “We found that every year he lost weight; every year his cholesterol went down; [and] every year his triglycerides went down.”

According to Dr. Simpson the key ingredient to a successful weight loss plan is to know the serving size of the foods on your plate. “Scale or fail,” said Dr. Simpson. “Most people fail on their diets because they forget to understand the portion size of what they’re eating—they don’t measure it,” Dr. Simpson said. While on his beer and sausage diet, Evo measured his calorie intake to ensure he didn't exceed 1,500 calories a day.
