We have discussed several times why Facebook is so popular. The main reason is that it makes easy to communicate easily and without much effort. But there is another aspect of Facebook usage and it is pleasure.
First of all when you say communication you incline pleasure as well. I think everybody enjoys chatting with a friend on Facebook and discussing enthusiastically her new shoes, the picture of which she had uploaded a few minutes ago. No matter that one user is in Indonesia, the other one in Africa. Or imagine you have bought a new car, uploaded it and you are actively commenting it. Is not it a pleasure?
Facebook does everything that users do not get bored. You may find different apps and games there aimed at providing leisure time. If you don’t have moods for going out and playing billiards, you are welcomed on Facebook, where it is not less thrilling to play and win.
Most people find it a guilty pleasure as spending time on Facebook is wasting time. They are on Facebook more than considered to be. They leave open a tab for Facebook as soon as they wake up, and after that it is open while eating, studying, reading and so on, until bed. They say that updating statuses, commenting and discussing different issues make them feel like popular. Of course, it is not bad when those topics are relevant and can be useful. The important thing is that you do not become obsessed by it forgets about anything in the world.
However, most people view Facebook from two angles: professional and personal. And thus they create two accounts, one for personal purposes, and one for that of professional, though this is considered to be a violation of usage terms. This fact again comes to prove that people view Facebook both as a means and communication, where they can chat with friends, and just enjoy their time. And secondly they use it to promote their business and to benefit from it.
