Dr.Sabrina Black president of Global Projects has returned from Haiti following a 10 day project launch of The Haiti Project -Rebuilding the Emotional, Mental and Spiritual Health of Children and Families. This DVD series is a Train the Trainer format offering help to the professionals, clergy and lay counselors of Haiti to help their fellow countrymen heal and overcome the tragedy of January 12, 2010 earthquake.Following a trip in February, Dr. Black and executive director, Pamela Hudson felt the need was so great that in order to contribute positively to the healing process, a counseling series would offer the skill-based training that will sustain the country and direct them toward wholeness.
A Team of 10 were on hand addressing in the seminars Relief Education, Crisis Intervention, Trauma Training, PTSD, Stress Management and Grief and Loss. These areas were helpful to many attendees as they recognized what they experienced and now recognize what they see among many of their neighbors.
The Training was launched in Port au Prince and taken to the mountains of Cerve and Mole St Nicolas where people were hungry for information on how to overcome, how to balance and deal with their emotions and how to create a new normal.
The work of this project is an ongoing one and Global Projects Board is committed to provide assistance over the next 3-5 years.
Attendees of the three day training received a certificate of completion. Many of them are now wanting to take the training into other parts of the city and country.
They will be certified and authorized through Global Projects with a qualifying exam and provided with materials so that they may do just that.
