I Heart Hollywood Film Screening at The 18th Annual African-American Film Marketplace, Gives Opportunities to Women and Minorities in Hollywood
Hollywood, CA-According to a recent article in the Los Angeles Times last month, women and minorities are underrepresented in Hollywood, and directed only 1% of prime-time television shows. The Directors Guild of America recently conducted a survey that revealed white males directed 77% of all episodes, and white females directed 11% of all episodes from the major broadcast and cable networks. Hollywood film producers Ci Ci Foster and Mashari Bain created Flower Goddess Productions, a Hollywood production dedicated to providing empowering roles for actors and actresses.
Through their film production company, the acclaimed producers created I Heart Hollywood, an empowering documentary, to tell the real stories of working actresses. “I Heart Hollywood gives audiences an inside look at the entertainment industry from an actress’ point of view and shatters myths about fame and success. We hear about the overnight success stories, but I wanted to expose the truth and tell the real stories of women who are breaking into the industry,” says Foster. Since its release, I Heart Hollywood was accepted into the Bronzeville Film Festival in Chicago and The Chinese Film Festival in Los Angeles and is set to be screened at the 18th Annual African-American Film Marketplace, presented by The Black Hollywood Education Resource Center, on October 22nd –October 23rd at Raleigh Studios, located at 5300 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038. The cost to attend is $15 per film, $30 for a day pass, or $100 for the entire weekend. Visit www.BHERC.org to purchase tickets. Ci Ci and Mashari are available for media interviews before and after the screening. Contact Florence Edwards to schedule interviews.
