PR Log (Press Release) – Apr 28, 2010 – Los Angeles, CA, April 15, 2010 – Jet Speed Records will be sponsoring the Awards Show for the 4th annual SoCal Music Live Competition(www.myspace.com/socalmusiclivecompetion) which will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Cat Club, located at 8911 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. The doors will open at 7:45 p.m. and the Awards will get underway promptly at 8:00 p.m. Admission at the door is $15. The afterparty will follow immediately thereafter, featuring the music of Doug Conlon of The Conlons.

The competition, the brainchild of promoter/publicist Bob Leggett (Shout it Out Promotions) is based upon the principle of giving the performers a tangible reward for their abilities. To accomplish this goal, Leggett secured the sponsorship of Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, Minarik Guitars, Sam Ash Music, Mantz Music Services, Songsalive! and Chelle-S Imaging, who have each donated musical equipment and/or services for the winners of the competition. Jet Speed Records is also sponsoring the Best Male category while Daisy Rock is sponsoring the Best Female category. Sam Ash and Mantz are co-sponsoring the Best Acoustic Band, and Minarik and Mantz are co-sponsoring the Best Electric Band. Songsalive! and Chelle-S Imaging are co-sponsoring all four categories.

Each year the Competition chooses a music education charity to support. For 2010, the Competition chose Project RYTMO (www.rytmo.org), a music education program training at-risk youth for careers in the music business. A special “Fan’s Favorite” category was established, and fans could “buy” votes for their favorite performers, with the proceeds going to the charity. The winner of the Fan’s Favorite award receives a cash prize, while the charity receives at least $1,000. The Top 3 for the 2010 Fan’s Favorite Award are A Boy Named Sue, Fire in the Stage and ShayE & the Dreamers.

The finalists who will be performing at the 2010 Awards Show are as follows (listed in alphabetical order by category): BEST MALE – Michael Edwards, Evan Human and Chuck Roberts; BEST FEMALE – Rebecca Caldwell and ShayE (Samantha Smith was unavailable); BEST ACOUSTIC BAND – Dana Parker, ShayE & the Dreamers and Vinyl Siding; BEST ELECTRIC ACT – Broken Lane, Fire in the Stage and Vinyl Siding.
