Juvederm actually refers to the dermal fillers manufactured from hyaluronic acid. It is primarily used to provide a long lasting solution to severe to moderate facial folds and wrinkles. This is the very first dermal filler which has been approved by FDA.
According to studies, the effects of Juvedern can last up a year or so. Only an initial treatment and you can enjoy a long lasting smooth skin like never before. No periodic visits, no touch up, once you undergo the 15 minutes treatment, you can enjoy the results year long.
Juvederm is available in a consistent and smooth gel formulation. This formulation is developed with the use of HYLACROSS technology which is a superior manufacturing procedure. This is what results in a smooth and soft gel. The best thing about this gel formulation is that it flow easily and is quite consistent all throughout the skin and then offers the results as desired.
As a matter of fact, most hyaluronic acid dermal fillers present on the market consist of granular consistency gel solution or formulation. Interestingly, granules gel can be seen under the 2.4 x magnification when compared to the soft and smooth consistent gel of the dermal fillers of Juvederm.
It was in year 2010 when Juvederm XC was approved by FDA. The XC was formulated with the help of the local anesthetic lidocaine in order to offer patients with a more soothing and comfortable experience when compared to that of the non lidocaine formulation as used earlier.
Ideally a patient has to spend less time in getting the treatment done in the office of the dermatologist or physician. The Ultra plus XC and Ultra XC comes with a concentration of 0.3 percent of preservative free lidocaine which anesthetizes the area of treatment in just few seconds. This in fact reduces the requirement for additional anesthetic to a great extent.
The XC products offer the same long lasting, smooth results that are confirmed with the existing products. In order to offer general practitioner with the flexibility to tailor every treatment to specific requirements of the patient, it must be known that the dermal fillers include both Ultra XC and Ultra with cross linked formulations, lidocaine for providing much more flexibility in contouring as well volumizing the facial folds and wrinkles.
In countries like the United States, the use of injectable gel like the Ultra and Ultra is pretty common. This is mainly aimed at severe to moderate corrections of the facial folds like the naso-labial folds and facial wrinkles as well. However, it is advised not to use Juvederm who have problems of severe allergies. Those patients with a severe history of allergies must not consider such treatment options.
It must also be noted that the use of the severe to moderate wrinkle or facial fold treatment is not advised during breastfeeding, pregnancy in females and also in patients under the age of 18 years. Last but not the least the effectiveness as well as safety of the medication has not been established in any other areas of treatment other than folds and facial wrinkles.
