Albuquerque, NM - March 19, 2012New Mexico native and artist Laurie Samaniego has one philosophy when it comes to her work. “I have no limitations as to what I choose to paint or draw. I am inspired by dreams, colors, music, and emotions,” says Samaniego. During the March 22nd reception for National Letting Go of Stuff Day, she will draw a painting that signifies the meaning of the day. That painting will be auctioned off during the reception.
“We are planning to auction her drawing toward the end of the reception. The proceeds from that auction will go to support domestic violence survivors in New Mexico,” says Darren L Johnson, founder of National Letting Go of Stuff Day.
Samaniego, who is a mother, wife, and artist, aspires to become an art therapist in order to give back to others what art has given to her. “I feel that creating art has healed me and given me a voice. I want to give that same gift to others – through my work,” she says.
National Letting Go of Stuff Day is dedicated to anyone who wants to begin letting go of stuff – inside and out. To celebrate the significance of this day, which is March 22nd, there will be a reception held at the Sheraton Uptown in Albuquerque, NM from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 pm. Laurie Samaniego is commissioned to create a piece of artwork during the reception that will signify the meaning of this nationally recognized day.
