With regard to the newly introduced IntelliFlo speed pool and spa pump its features include permanent magnet motors like the ones used in hybrid cars to allow for ultra-efficiency. According to Pentair studies, the pump is around 90 percent more energy efficient than a traditional single-speed pump. While a single-speed pump uses 3,285 kWh per year, the Pentair IntelliFlo pump uses only 1,150 kWh per year.
