MEDICAL CANNABIS FOR FLORIDA SENIORS

Famous Pot Smuggler Educates and Advocates for Seniors

Doctor OZ told told the world that every doctor in American should be allowed to prescribe medical cannabis. At 1pm on Sunday Oct 23, Robert Platshorn, a.k.a. The Black Tuna, will bring his Silver Tour to the residents of Golden Lakes Village in West Palm Beach Florida. A battery of medical experts, patients and legal experts will put on a one hour show to educate seniors on the benefits of medical cannabis and encourage them to work for “Safe Legal Access”.

The show features prominent Ft. Lauderdale stockbroker Irv Rosenfeld, one of only four remaining patients who receive 300 cannabis cigarettes each month from the federal government to treat a rare ailment that causes tumors in the joints of his long bones. He is the author of My Medicine and has appeared on national TV advocating for medical cannabis.

Platshorn, the man who spent 30 years in federal incarceration for importing cannabis, is featured in rakontur’s hit documentary Square Grouper, and is now Director of NORML of Florida. Like TV’s Dr OZ, the Tuna believes that all doctors should be able to prescribe cannabis for a host of ailments that chronically plague seniors.

In a recent poll, 50% of all Americans approve legalizing cannabis. Seventeen states and the District of Colombia have passed laws allowing medical cannabis for the treatment of glaucoma, MS, Crones Disease, sleep deprivation, neurological pain, PSTD, chronic back pain, arthritis and the list goes on. The American Nurses Association advocates its use and the AMA has petitioned Washington to reclassify cannabis for research and treatment.

The idea for the Silver Tour came to Robert as he toured the country advocating for legalization and promoting his memoir, Black Tuna Diaries. While speaking to an audience of over two thousand cheering activists in Seattle, he had an epiphany. “It’s a waste of my time pitching people who are already advocates. No one is talking to seniors, and they are the ones with the greatest immediate need. Seniors vote”. Accurate information, free food and a chance to meet patients, nurses and doctors who have years of experience with medical cannabis. That’s the Tuna’s formula for turning seniors into advocates.

Step one was to get a bill for medical cannabis introduced in Tallahassee. Platshorn, who according to the late Billy Mays, “is a legendary pitchman”, made a three minute pitch to legislators gathered in West Palm Beach. Democrat Jeff Clemens saw the need, the advantages to Florida’s economy and introduced a bill last spring.

Robert and Irv Rosenfeld plan to take The Silver Tour on the road throughout Florida and across the country. .
