VADODARA: Packaging is very important for pharmaceutical products. While packing pharma products, care must be taken to ensure that no oxygen or moisture molecules enter the closed space. Recently, researchers from the University of Southern Denmark have developed a crystalline matter, which can adsorb and hold oxygen in large quantities. A single spoon of the matter can absorb all the oxygen present in a room.
A major advantage of the new crystalline material developed is that it does not react with oxygen. The material is called a “solid artificial hemoglobin”, which can absorb, store and transport oxygen without undergoing any physical or chemical changes. When available, in the market, this material can function as a high quality oxygen absorber.
