Twitter has quickly become one of the leaders in news, social networking, and all things else that fall into the twitter-verse. Twitter recently has decided to capitalize on its growing success, however at the cost of twitter-users that monetize their tweets. Twitter users now need to find a new way to monetize their tweets. At the beginning of the year, Mashable.com noted 6 games on Twitter that would keep you busy and having fun. Of all the games they listed, none had a monetary reward system. The reward for winning was self gratification. A new competitor for the Twitter field of gaming entered the field in June and is continually picking up steam. The game has been touted by some as the best thing that's been introduced to Twitter. The new game is called #Tweetergames. (Added hash-mark as you can quickly find multiple tweets about it, but not enough to make it a trend).
After inspection of their spartan designed website, playing the game seems pretty basic and dull. The exciting part comes the day after you have re-tweeted them (the object of the game) and you are sitting on pins and needles hoping you are chosen as the random winner. And what do you get? A cool instant payment from PayPal ranging from $5 to $25 depending on the game for that day.
Is the game worth playing? If you have to ask yourself that question, then you obviously aren't interested in making money for free just re-tweeting someone. But hey, that's just me. All in all, Tweeter Games seems to be a worthy opponent in the gaming field for Twitter (at-least). One can only say that they will be around for as long as Twitter remains popular.
