BriefingWire.com, 10/29/2011 - CHICAGO, IL - OCTOBER 21, 2011 For Chicago Artist Connie Noyes, what began as an art project about her pinkish physical self and the space she occupies has turned into a call to unite 1,000,000 people around the globe.

The opening of PINK | SPACE, her solo exhibition at Blanc Gallery on November 18, 2011, will mark the launch of an interactive social media website where she will connect one million people from around the globe. The concept is to bring the energy of 1,000,000 people together on one platform, people whose intent is to create a more perfect condition in the world we inhabit.

On November 19, from 2-6 PM Noyes will host a symposium at Blanc with a panel of seven speakers ranging from a medical doctor, a steel manufacturer, a contemporary music composer and a unit of swingers.

The 1,000,000 people art project, instigated by the work she was making in the studio, came from the realization that her work was not a narcissistic endeavor after all. Noyes states,"Shades of pink are the color we share. It's the internal color of muscles and organs unconcerned with external racial, class, gender or spiritual differences." Her work which combines painting, sculpture, photography, sound and a bit of performance uses humor and metaphor to drive the point home.

THE ARTIST

Born in Washington D.C., Connie Noyes currently lives and works as a full time artist in Chicago. She received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her Masters Degree in Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont California. She recently completed her 50th lifetime move. She is a nomad.

Through study, travel and her obsession with diverse experiences she developed an interest in the unconscious psychology of culture. It was during residencies in a number of vastly divergent cultures, Dubai, South Africa, Bulgaria, Western Europe, Brazil and Tunisia that it became obvious how artists are able to utilize the language of art to bridge or by-pass cultural differences. The artists she worked with and continues relationships with came to know each other in intimate connected ways - as humans without labels.

Her current project, is the culmination of her interests and experiences. You can see more of her work at www.connienoyes.com

BLANC GALLERY and BRONZEVILLE

In its heyday, Bronzeville was home to the cream of Chicago's African American society. In the forefront of the neighborhood's many cultural institutions, artists, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs engaged in a robust dialogue on matters of importance to the community. Cliff Rome, proprietor of Bronzeville's Parkway Ballroom, is committed to rekindling this Culture of Conversation. Blanc's bold mission is to engage African Americans and all Chicagoans through the arts and to ignite dialogue on issues of spiritual, political and social significance. www.blancchicago.com

THE PROJECT

In the earliest citations from the 16th century, the phrase "In the Pink" meant to be at the very pinnacle of a moment or event. While today, the phrase is most commonly used to mean in perfect condition especially in relationship to health. This project is a call for the global community at this fragile yet pinnacle moment in our collective history to come together in partnership, creativity and passion to create a healthier, more perfect condition. www.onemillionpink.org
