Stormy skies and a rainy outlook have caused Founders’ Day organizers to postpone this year’s event, scheduled to take place this coming Saturday, March 5th at the Salinas Train Station Plaza from 11am-4pm. Organizers are primed to push the event into April and are working on a new date to share with the community. “Last year’s event was so successful and we’re so looking forward to having the community join us again this year.” Said First Mayor’s House Chairman, Larry Bussard. “Over 1000 people attended last year and we want to make sure that everyone enjoys themselves in this beautiful outdoor setting at the Salinas Train Station Plaza.
Founders’ Day organizers include the City of Salinas, First Mayor’s House, Native Sons of the Golden West, the Monterey County Historical Society and the Salinas Historic Resources Board. The event celebrates the rich history of Salinas and its founding some 142 years ago.
