Stryker Lawsuits Stemming from Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Recall Continue to Mount
The Firm is actively filing Stryker lawsuits on behalf of individuals affected by the Stryker Rejuvenate hip recall for Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stems.

BriefingWire.com, 5/20/2013 - Stryker lawsuits stemming from last year’s Stryker Rejuvenate hip recall http://www.stryker-rejuvenate-hip-recall-lawsuit.com/ continue to mount in both state and federal courts, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to court documents, at least 81 Stryker Rejuvenate claims are currently pending in a consolidated litigation now underway in New Jersey Superior Court, Bergen County. (In re Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Stem and the ABG II Modular Hip Stem Litigation, No. 296) Plaintiffs who are requesting the consolidation of federally-filed Stryker hip claims in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, have also reported that at least 30 lawsuits related to the Stryker hip recall have been filed in federal courts throughout the country. “Considering that some 20,000 Rejuvenate and ABG II modular hip stems were sold worldwide prior to the announcement of the Stryker Rejuvenate hip recall, we are not surprised that claims have mounted so quickly. We expect that this litigation will continue to grow,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is actively filing Stryker lawsuits on behalf of individuals affected by the Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stem recall.

Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Recall

The Stryker hip Rejuvenate and ABG II recall was issued in July 2012, after data indicated the hip stems were prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular-neck junction. Stryker has warned that patients fitted with these hip stems may be at risk for pain, swelling, and adverse local tissue reactions. The company has also recommended that all patients fitted with the affected stems undergo blood tests and imaging screens to ensure their devices are functioning properly, even if they are not experiencing symptoms.

Some recent media reports have raised concerns that the failure rate associated with the Stryker hip recall could exceed 50%. For example, one Florida surgeon recently interviewed by the Palm Beach Post reported that he had already revised 100 of 400 Rejuvenate hips he had implanted since 2009. Over the coming months, the doctor said he expects to remove and replace 100 more. Other doctors have expressed concern that the revision rates related to the Stryker hip recall could reach 70% or higher, according to the Post.

Individuals affected by the Stryker Rejuvenate hip recall may be entitled to compensation for their medical care, pain and suffering, and other damages.
