The Memorials, featuring former The Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen, invade Costa Mesa on Tuesday, July 20th to play Detroit Bar (21+) on 19th St. It’s the 2nd in a string of shows in California over this week, in which The Memorials just played LA, and are slated for San Francisco on July 25th. The band played their first show ever in Berkeley, CA in May of this year, and are steadying an assault on ears nationwide.The Memorials have also been getting airplay for their track entitled “West Coast” which can be heard on the bands ReverbNation page. Thomas, Viveca, and Nick also did a live in-studio interview with Morgan Rhodes, the host of a brand new show on KPFK 90.7 (KPFK.org), called “The Listening Station,” on July 18th.

The Memorials are spearheaded by their founder, drummer Thomas Pridgen, who is well-known for his meteoric rise to the forefront of drum culture as a bombastic and kinetic force behind the drums. In late 2009, he departed from his post as drummer for The Mars Volta, and quickly put together a stellar cast of musicians, rounded out by vocalist Viveca Hawkins and guitarist Nick Brewer, as well as guitarist Brad Ackley, bassist Uriah Duffy, and more.
If you took Tool, The Police, Erykah Badu, and a band from the moon that's never existed (but sounds a lot like Frank Zappa), and put them in a blender, you'd get The Memorials.
