In my entire career as a web design expert with Zoom Web Media, I have come to know from experience about few things that make good interaction designs a success. Ten of these important things are mentioned here. Start with two
If the task seems complicated, start with any two things like a button and a page and establish how they are related and their interaction. Once it is done, find another related thing and keep growing. With time, you will be able to bring together everything because of the ability of the brain to spatially model the world.
Prototype
It is better to show something working instead of saying that it will work well. It would do well to learn some code, PowerPoint or some tools that help to prototype and do design job well.
Make use of patterns
People follow a certain pattern in whatever they do which they develop with their previous experience. To interaction designers, be it an expert in web design in Ontario or an expert in web design in Sydney, these are called ‘mental models’ and they make use of these patterns to predict the response of users on interacting with the designs and work accordingly.
Trick people
Don’t let people predict the outcome. Distract them so that they will think of the technology becoming faster than the fact.
Tell stories
Users look for solution of their problems and the best thing for designers is to frame the character to resolve the issue.
Use metaphors as required
You should use metaphor for better interaction and not as a cute looking item.
Consider different users
It is important for interaction designers to make designs accessible to every section of the society.
Make novices experts
There may be users who are unable to learn your designs. Hence, it is imperative to make your designs such that even a novice can learn it pretty well.
Be a humble expert
You will become an expert with your success. But good ideas are always welcome. Hence, it is important to be humble enough to open the window to other ideas and keep the flag of success fly high.
Accept failures to succeed
It is better to learn from criticism than from praise. Criticism is the reflection of honesty. On the other hand, it becomes difficult to understand its presence with praise. It is best not to take criticism personally. In the end you and your work will benefit from it.
It is the synergy of technical development and psychological behavior that is the essence of interaction design.
