Tom Anagnost's Women's Soccer Team at University Of Miami (Canes) Defeated Maryland By 2-1 In 2011
This press release informs the readers that Tom Anagnost's women's soccer team at the University of Miami (Canes) defeated Maryland by 2-1 in 2011.

BriefingWire.com, 12/01/2014 - Tom Anagnost is a highly accomplished head women's soccer coach who admirably served the University of Miami for two years. He is the man behind the victory of many women's soccer games during his employment with the university. Under Tom's guidance, his team was able to defeat the 16th ranked Maryland team by 2-1 in 2011. It was the second straight victory of the team over ranked opponents. Their player, Kate Howarth, played an outstanding game as she scored both the goals for her team.

An exciting women’s soccer match took place between the University of Miami and the Maryland teams. It was Olivia Wagner from Maryland who scored the first goal after receiving a free kick in the 17th minute, and it was the only goal made by the Maryland team. Just a few minutes later, the keeper of Canes, Vikki Alonzo, saved two of the biggest shots of the game, which helped motivate the team. Tom Anagnost, the head women's soccer coach for the Canes described that Jasmyne Spencer of the opponent’s team fired off three continuous shots in one sequence, while the first shot was saved by Alonzo, the second rebounded and went off the post, and the third one was again saved by Alonzo. Tom said she did a brilliant job by keeping the Canes deficit to only one by making seven saves in the game.

In the 37th minute, this match became even more exciting when Kim Hutchinson got her shot deflected to Kate Howarth who didn't miss the chance to convert it into a goal. In the 62nd minute of the game, she gracefully scored the second goal for Canes with her head. Off a corner kick that Tom drew up in practice, Kate Howarth rose and headed the ball beautifully into the goal. Just three minutes after the second half started, the game was suspended for 31 minutes because of the threat of lightning in the area. The Canes showed great technique and effectively used the techniques they practiced on the game field during the match which made Tom proud. More importantly, Tom spoke of how the teams character and will was displayed during the game, which he was most proud of.

Tom Anganost said that all of the staff and team members were confident that the Canes girls have the potential to go the extra mile and achieve victory. He further added that there is no place like home and his team plays well on their home turf. When asked about the number one reason for their success, the team members of The University of Miami said that it couldn’t be possible without the teaching and constant motivation of their coach, Tom Anagnost.
