Location, June 12, 2012 – The VA disability compensation rates have changed. The 2012 rates have increased almost 3.5% over the past couple of years allowing veterans to receive an increase in the amount of money that they receive for their disabilities. There are a few stipulations that they are required to meet in order to be able to receive disability benefits, but it depends on the percentage of disability and the time in the service in which will determine the amount of money that will be received by the benefits.

You must meet a requirement of at least 10% disability in order to receive any VA compensation for disability. Then, depending on the amount of disability, the fact that you may or may not have children, or any type of dependents will help to figure your rate. A person that has a 10% disability rate will automatically receive $127.00 per month. A veteran that has a 20% disability will automatically receive $251.00 per month. Anyone with a 30% disability or above will vary depending on the amount and type of dependents.

A person that does not have children and is between 30%-60% disabled will receive $389.00 for 30%, $560.00 for 40%, $797.00 for 50%, and $1,009.000 for 60%. You will receive an additional allotment per month for children or parents that are dependents and spouses. There is a separate bracket if the veteran is 70%- 100% disabled. A veteran will receive $1,272.00 for 70%, $1,478.00 for 80%, $1,661.00 for 90%, and $2,769.00 for 100% and again the additional amount will be allowed per month depending on spouses, children, and other dependents.

There are other VA Compensation Rates that will be allowed for travel expenses and other benefits depending on the situation and level of disability. The government has realized how difficult it can be for some veterans to come back after a disabling injury and trying to take care of themselves and their family. This is why they have tried to increase the compensation rates in order to allow for inflation and to get proper care for their disabilities. It is important to make sure you understand what you are entitled to when it comes to your VA disability compensation rates and benefits.
