Vaginal Mesh Lawsuit Update: Rottenstein Law Group LLP Comments on Reports of Potential Settlements
The firm is currently offering vaginal mesh lawsuit evaluations to women who allege that they sustained injuries from vaginal mesh implants.

BriefingWire.com, 9/30/2013 - At least five vaginal mesh manufacturers are said to be in settlement talks with thousands of plaintiffs, according to a Sept. 30 Bloomberg report. The Rottenstein Law Group LLP, a mesh law firm, discusses what this means for women looking to obtain vaginal mesh lawsuit settlements.

C.R. Bard, Endo Health Solutions (American Medical Systems), Boston Scientific Corp., Coloplast and Cook Medical are the vaginal mesh manufacturers reported to be involved in the talks, according to Bloomberg.* Johnson & Johnson, whose Ethicon unit is a major maker of mesh, is not involved, the article said.

There are currently more than 30,000 lawsuits pending in a federal court consolidation before Judge Joseph R. Goodwin in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. The settlement talks are looking to resolve most or all of these, the article said. So far this year Endo has already paid out more than $50 million in vaginal mesh settlements.

“Mass settlement would bring resolution of the cases of thousands of victims much sooner than trials of all the individual lawsuits, and even if a plaintiff receives less than she’s been hoping to win, the emotional reward of being done with litigation can be immeasurable,” said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group LLP. “Settlement often brings a reward that doesn’t factor into a pure financial analysis: Being able to focus entirely on regaining one’s health is always preferable to preparing for a trial. The hope now is that the settlement offers will be fair.”

Women are filing transvaginal mesh lawsuits alleging they suffered adverse side effects such as pain and discomfort, in addition to vaginal erosion, according to court documents.**

The Rottenstein Law Group LLP encourages those who believe they have suffered from the alleged side effects of their vaginal mesh implants to visit the firm’s FAQ page for quick answers to questions about mesh harms and lawsuits.
