Rain City Cinema announced today that production for MosaiXlogue starts May 18 in Seattle, WA.
According to Rain City Cinema's Paul Gorman, MosiXlogue will be the world’s first virtual movie derived from actors’ audition monologues. It will feature interviews, auditions, and monologues, written by a slew of published Seattle writers and performed by a cast of Seattle's most promising actors. The auditions, will then be rearranged into new stories.
Gorman said. "It's never been done before. It will be a Mumblecore film so who knows where it will lead and what stories will emerge from the collective minds of the writers, actors, editor and director."
Rain City Cinema www.raincitycinema.com plans to shoot the auditions and interviews utilizing "green-screen" techniques and then mat in backgrounds. Their sister company, B-Roll Cloud www.brollcloud.com has an extensive catalogue of b-roll footage and will provide the background scenes.
Gorman plans to enter MosaiXlogue in Sundance and Slamdance film festivals when the film is finished. "It's definitely an Indie Film that defies categorization and will appeal to an eclectic audience and critics," said Gorman. "We've done several tests and know it works. Basically, audiences are amazed when they find out that all of it was created from audition monologues that have been pieced together."
Gorman added, "So far the response from actors and the team of writers has been overwhelming," said Gorman. "They are intrigued with the concept and want to be part of it."
Gorman happened to stumble upon the concept while casting for another project. "I wanted to see how my top two actors looked side-by-side, so I edited them together and was surprised by the seamless vignette that developed. It was then that the idea for MosaiXlogue was born and I decided to pursue it," said Gorman.
