The attack, which occurred around February 21, 2023, has sent shockwaves through the industry, leaving providers unable to pay their workers or cover operational expenses.

Despite the severity of the breach, "CHANGE Healthcare" neglected to promptly inform providers, exacerbating the crisis. While hospitals and pharmacies were fast-tracked for rapid consideration to have their funds released, the lack of communication with providers has left countless families, particularly the homebound who rely on these services, in jeopardy.

Ms. Brown has passionately appealed to key stakeholders including the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the Governor of Delaware, and the Insurance Commissioner to take immediate action to rectify this crisis. Earnestine, a former R.N., indicated if this stoppage lingers there will be another health crisis created because clients will not have access to services to bathe, clothe, and feed them because most are without close family support systems. The human suffering will be rapidly felt in homes where resources are already strained and could overlap into sectors.

Ms. Brown emphasized that intervention is critical and called upon the media to remove the blackout and start shining a light on this crisis that is affecting millions of families. "The silence of the media on this issue is deafening," she added.
