Marindependent Insurance Services LLC, a Marin Independent Boutique Brokerage Agency today announced a Consumer Campaign to bring about awareness for an extremely important Homeowners Endorsement: Building Ordinance and Law. The name of the marketing campaign is Be Better! With Building Ordinance and Law.
Building Ordinance and Law goes by other Similar Sounding Names: Ordinance and Law, Building Ordinance, etc. This Endorsement can be found on many typical home insurance policies but it is frequently not enough to fully cover homes. According to Investopedia: "Building ordinance coverage is insurance that covers the increased costs associated with repairing a damaged building. Such costs are due to changes in building codes since the building’s construction date."
"It is our belief that the Building Ordinance and Law endorsement is not discussed nearly enough with consumers," said Scott W Johnson, the Founder and Manager of Marindependent. "It is my professional belief that most consumers do not understand the value of this endorsement, and I would like to change that."
Depending on the state in which you live in, Ordinance and Law may be standard on many HO3 homeowners policies but typically only a small percentage. Often that percentage is just 10%. Some carriers allow it to be raised to 25%, 50%, 75%, and even 100% of the Coverage A amount. "Many consumers that live in older homes or areas with more codes may be at an increased need for this type of coverage" Johnson Explains. (Not all property policies carry this coverage though.)
The campaign will include a variety of internet postings on websites and social media during the months of October and November 2019.
