IMMIGRANT DEATHS:

Exploiting the issues of deaths of the very same immigrants they denigrate daily is hypocrisy itself - and when that 'misinformation' turns into blatant 'lies', think how much that would upset the families of those lost.

The Express Journalist/s that made that assertion either did that in ignorance, in which case a full and honest apology from them as well as from the Editor of the Express, or in full knowledge of the facts which would mean an even greater strain on those families.

The Express's deliberately misleading figure of 180 people as having lost their lives in the channel relates to the total losses dating back to 2018 - most of which it, failed to mention, were in the disastrous 14 years in Tory power until July 2024.

2018-2025 combined: 162 deaths on the Migration Observatory series cited by Full Fact.

2024: 73 deaths. (under both Tory and Labour control)

2025: 24 deaths.

2026: 17 deaths recorded by 2 August, according to the Migration Observatory figure supplied to Full Fact.

What is also factual is the number of immigrants on these boats started at:

1/. 2018: 7 immigrants per boat

2/. 2025: 62 immigrants per boat

You could reasonably consider that average boat occupancy has increased almost ninefold since 2018, and independent research has identified extreme overcrowding as one mechanism contributing to Channel fatalities leading predictably to more immigrant deaths per boat.
