Emily Verrett Receives Innovation Award
Emily Verrett started working for AT&T as a result of an internship as a graduate student but ended up earning an award for her work.

BriefingWire.com, 11/08/2012 - Dallas, Texas -- Emily Verrett was fortunate as a graduate student that her internship at AT&T would lead her to start a successful career. Emily Verrett was studying towards her Master’s in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University when she decided to take up an internship opportunity with AT&T’s Leadership Development Program.

Emily Verrett completed a summer MBA internship at AT&T in 2009. AT&T saw something in Emily Verrett that they liked and she made the decision to stick with the company. Even while she completed her degree from Southern Methodist University, Emily Verrett was getting work experience at AT&T.

Upon graduation in 2010, Emily Verrett joined AT&T’s flagship leadership development rotational program. Emily mentions, “I completed three rotations over 2 years before starting my current position as a Director of Mobility Sales.” While in the LDP program, Emily Verrett received an AT&T Innovation Award in July 2011.At AT&T, Emily Verrett’s first rotation with the Workforce Development and Diversity team where, “I helped create the first Generation of the Workforce conference that brought together HR leaders from Fortune 200 companies to discuss how four generations can work more effectively,” says Emily Verrett. And this was not her first demonstration of her skills.

For her second rotation, Emily Verrett worked in the Government and Education Group. In this group, Emily Verrett was the first employee of a “newly created team focused on affinity marketing to government employees, teachers, and college students,” recalls Emily Verrett. It was here that she created and sold a business case to grow and run the group.

It was in her third rotation that she hired ten additional individuals to the sales and marketing team. Since that time, Emily Verrett has been responsible for managing the team. Today, Emily Verrett is responsible for an annual revenue base of $1.8 billion dollars, which she continues to grow.
