DEMOCRACY AND THE RIGHT TO KNOW CHALLENGED IN THE UK - FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER:
On Thursday 7 May there will be a series of by-elections taking place for the election or re-election of around 5000 councillors in England.
There is now an implicit danger of those people casting their votes for someone to represent their chosen political party without the full details and knowledge of a critical 'event' that occurred over 4 weeks - which could have some impact on which party citizens may or may not choose.
Our aim is not to take a political position or influence opinion. Our aim is to: maintain public-interest visibility, ensure continuity of information, support informed citizenship, highlight patterns of media silence that may affect public understanding.
This is a standard and recognised role within modern media ecosystems, particularly when coverage varies widely between outlets. When this standard is violated it is our duty to make that known to the public.
We will continue to monitor and document the situation in a factual, non-partisan way, solely to support transparency and public awareness.
In view of this fact and the up-coming by-elections when 5000 council seats will be determined, it is a democratic right that voters should be *fully* informed on the behaviour of the principal leader of the most favoured party by British media - the suppresser's of this story - of who will win the most votes on the day.
