GB2GB Responds to Right Wing Mafia's Daily Express Claim of “£3bn-a-Year Cost of Rejoining the EU”
GB2GB has issued a clarification following a Daily Express report suggesting that rejoining the European Union could cost the United Kingdom £3 billion per year. This figure is speculative, as no negotiations or formal re-entry terms exist.

BriefingWire.com, 4/05/2026 - RIGHT WING 'MAFIA' NEWS:

Following the 'Feature' on page 2 of the Sunday Express today of their 'Premium Journalism' app, GB2GB would like to highlight an immediate contradiction of the claim that they do 'actually provide' Premium Journalism - on day 1..

*The Express figure quoted appears to be based on assumptions about potential EU budget contributions, modelled loosely on what the UK might pay if it were treated similarly to other member states*

However, without negotiations or a defined framework, any estimate of rejoining costs remains an approximation - instead of an evidence-based assessment - in other words 'NOT NECCESARILY TRUE'.

GB2GB reports are all FACTUAL not FICTIONAL.

In contrast, the economic impact of leaving the EU has been extensively analysed by independent bodies including the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the OECD, and Cambridge Econometrics. These assessments are based on real-world data since the 2016 referendum.

According to the OBR, the UK economy is expected to be around 4% smaller in the long term than it would have been had the UK remained in the EU. UK trade is projected to be approximately 15% lower, and Cambridge Econometrics estimates that Brexit has already resulted in a cumulative economic loss of around £140 billion, with a projected total impact of £311 billion by 2035 compared with a scenario in which the UK had stayed in the EU.

A GB2GB spokesperson said:

“It’s important to distinguish between measured economic outcomes and hypothetical projections. The cost of leaving the EU has been studied for years and is supported by independent data. The cost of rejoining, however, cannot be reliably calculated without negotiations, terms, or a defined framework.

The British public are now fully aware of the 'fictional' element of daily newspapers and tv news channels. Who can forget ' £250 million a day' buses and PM Johnson's 'Get It Done'.

*The £3bn figure reported by the Daily Express should be understood as an estimate, not an official assessment* and not worthy of a true news media in the UK in its requirement to support British citizens interest - and not those of the Multi-Billionaire owners of the

GB2GB encourages clear, evidence-based discussion on major public-interest issues and will continue to provide accessible explanations to help the public navigate complex economic claims.

As long as Right Wing Media pursue this form of biased and innuendo strong narrative, GB2GB with continue to treat all their unbalanced news reports - consistent with the vast majority of around 90* media domination in the UK and most TV news channels that choose to expand that bias 24/7 to the British public - they will remain the Right Wing Mafia - without the bodies?
