Are you in a rush to hit the level cap in world of warcraft? Are you curious about how long it takes to hit the level cap? And does the level cap the only thing you care about in world of warcraft? For a new player that never played the game before around 8-10,12 days gametime in average if you run around explore try some crafting etc. If you concentrate on leveling and doing quests probably faster. It could take any where from just a few days to a few weeks depending your your playing style.
In World of warcraft, there’s plenty to get to 60 and more than enough to get to 70 where you could hit the level cap in one of the two lv68-70 zones and keep the other for wow gold reward. I haven’t followed WotLK news much, I expect Blizzard will stick to the same.
Someone think that World of warcraft is all about the endgame and this endgame requires a character to hit the max level, like level 85. Character progression in WoW is defined by getting better and better gear, which only can be obtained through raiding or arena play. And both sources are part of the endgame.
In my opinion, the leveling period should not be the main part of the game. Yes, leveling should still be fun and still is a substancial part. If it’s well done, I don’t mind if it takes 3-6 months, so the level cap is relative to how much content a developer can put out. When you are leveling your toon, you can meet many friends in game and do many things you are happy with. So don’t take it as an task or job, but see it as a funny thing.
Imagine that you are an exception to the rule, or at least part of a very small minority, and you understand just how challenging it would be to create a game where you could move at your own pace, no matter what that pace is. It’s hard to imagine a game that ditched levels as it’s primary progression mechanic, yet still offered enough content, etc to make you feel like you’re growing withing the warcraft world. I know that there are games out there that have tried it, but I don’t know of any that have figured out the magic formula to keep everyone happy.
For most of the wow players, it really doesn’t matter how long it takes, this depends on the game and the way you play wow. Take Guild Wars for example. In the Factions campaign hitting the level cap of 20 can be easily done in some hours of constant play. But since the focus in GW’s PvE is on advancing the story the level of your avatar is not that important. Leveling is more a side-effect.
