(HOUSTON, Texas) — Attorney Jack Ezell, candidate for Harris County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, Place 2, is calling for greater accountability, improved docket management and a renewed commitment to serving the thousands of residents who depend on their local Justice Courts. What does the JP do? www.youtube.com/shorts/W4PVrMNnwKU
Precinct 2 encompasses a geographically diverse region, including portions of South Houston, Galena Park, Jacinto City, northern Pasadena, Pearland, Friendswood, League City, Sagemont, Baybrook and Webster.
For residents navigating eviction proceedings, small claims disputes, traffic citations and other legal matters, courtroom efficiency is more than an administrative concern. Delays can create financial hardships, prolong uncertainty and disrupt families and businesses already facing difficult circumstances.
"Justice delayed can become justice denied, particularly for working families and small business owners who cannot afford repeated disruptions to their lives," Ezell said. "People deserve a judge who shows up, does the work and respects their time."
Ezell's campaign has raised concerns about judicial attendance, workload distribution and docket efficiency in Precinct 2. The campaign believes these issues warrant public scrutiny, particularly regarding their potential impact on the responsibilities carried by the two courts serving the precinct.
Ezell says effective leadership in Place 2 would help ensure that each court fulfills its independent responsibilities rather than placing unnecessary pressure on the other.
"Our Justice Courts should operate with professionalism, consistency and respect for every person who walks through the door," Ezell said. "A judge's responsibility is to serve the public, not make the public accommodate an inefficient courtroom."
An attorney with more than 40 years of legal experience in the Houston area, Ezell believes his courtroom background provides the foundation necessary to manage cases efficiently while protecting due process and treating every litigant fairly.
His priorities include consistent judicial attendance, responsible docket management, timely hearings and greater transparency in court operations.
"Time is money, and justice matters," Ezell added. "Our community deserves full-time judicial leadership committed to doing the job every day."
