The Poole Event serves as a visible demonstration of unity between generations of Marines, bringing together seasoned veterans, active supporters younger Marines. and Marine recruits preparing for their future in service. Organizers say the gathering reflects the enduring values of honor, courage, commitment and brotherhood that define the United States Marine Corps.

The event is recognized as a District 5 function, a Marine Corps Council function, and Marine Corps League detachments may list participation as a Department Function on their official activity reports. Leaders encouraged strong attendance from detachments, councils and Marine-affiliated organizations across Texas and surrounding communities.

James Harvey, who has coordinated this show of support since 1992, emphasized the importance of showing up for the next generation of Marines.

“This is about Marines helping Marines,” Harvey said. “When younger Marines see older Marines standing with them, supporting them and encouraging them, it sends a message that the brotherhood never ends.”

The event will include fellowship, food and opportunities for families to connect while honoring the traditions that have long made the Marine Corps community unique. Organizers say additional support is always needed from Marine organizations and volunteers who want to assist with logistics, attendance and encouragement for participants.

Robert Harvey of the Galveston Marine Corps League said the gathering highlights the lasting bond shared by all who have earned the title Marine.

“No matter when or where we served, we are forever connected by our commitment to each other,” Harvey said. “This event is an opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder and remind these young Marines they are part of something bigger than themselves.”

Vice Commandant David Rodriguez said community support remains essential.

“When Marines of every generation come together, we strengthen the Corps and strengthen our communities,” Rodriguez said. “We encourage every Marine organization that can attend to be present and make an impact.”
