Currently, on review sites such as Ripoff report, anyone can post and say anything about a company, and it will be posted. As long as the posting doesn’t contain vulgar language, Ripoff will post it with complete disregard of the source. The post is never removed, even if you can prove that the content is false. This is problem for companies because competitors or even a disgruntled ex-employee can post extremely negative material that can affect a business, without repercussions. Other review sites such as Yelp have been under fire for years for the way it manipulates its content.
The new website will help to educate, and give people a place to network and share ideas on how to change an industry that unfairly costs legitimate businesses across the country millions of dollars a year in losses.
